Voice comanded Microwave

Posted in Tech Corner, Uncategorized by Paul Jacob on September 26th, 2006

I found this microwave to be interesting. It does what you tell it to do. Its cool that Daewoo has actually come up with the first interactive microwave. This voice-activated microwave oven stores up to 40 voice commands and will respond to anyone who talks to it. I think the future is going to be like this. You tell your microwave to cook, and you tell your fridge to open, and all these appliances will obey your command and actually work. Computers are all going to be wireless, appliances will be voice comanded, and your car will drive itself. Wow we are getting closer and closer everyday to what we have seen on Scifi movies.

Virgin Atlantic eases restriction

Posted in Tech Corner by Paul Jacob on September 26th, 2006

Finally Virgin Atlantic has eased its previous restrictions on Dell and Apple laptops being used in-flight. Under the modified restrictions, passengers who have received crew approval can use their Dell and Apple batteries while on the plane. But non-approved batteries must be packed separately in a carry-on. On Virgin’s website they say that they are in communication with Apple and Dell and as soon as this safety issue is resolved they will lift all the restriction placed on Dell computers, and Apple as well.

Alerts you when you are tired

This watch is really cool. It tells you if you are okay to drive or not. Something like this will help a lot of truck drivers and people who take road trips. This flexible rubber device uses motion combined with reaction time to determine whether or not you are suffering from driver fatigue. The device comunicates with an RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) tag positioned in your car and only starts to detect whether you are tired when you are in your car. The device can be bent to fit your wrist, and has memory to stay in position, to ensure it will not fall off.
