MySpace has teamed up with Declare Yourself

Posted in Tech Corner by Paul Jacob on September 28th, 2006

The biggest social oriented website MySpace has joined hands with the non-partisan group Declare Yourself to launch a voter-registration campaign aimed at MySpace users and engage them in the political process. Voter registration information is available in both English and Spanish. I mean Myspace can be a great tool if used wisely.

The group Declare Yourself have done a survey on young people of today and found out that young people more than ever are interested in the democratic process. I believe Myspace is an excellent tool to educate the young people of today about our democratic system. I mean its a shame that about 30% of the people voted in the last presidential election. So in reality about 15 or 16% people actually elect the president. Myspace with its millions of young members can actually help make a difference. The tools available via MySpace enable users to enter their ZIP code and generate a PDF file which can be printed and mailed to state election officials.

The new SanDisk Extreme III

Posted in Storage, Uncategorized by Paul Jacob on September 27th, 2006

The new SanDisk Extreme III will help a lot of professional photographers, paparazzi, and people who love to take a lot of pictures. SanDisk’s Extreme III CompactFlash card comes with 16GB of memory. Till today there have never been a compactflash card that could hold this much memory.

Youare probably aware of 32GB and 64GB capable CompactFlash cards but they exsist only in prototype forms. No sizes larger than 8GB have been available to the general public till now. I think its little pricy. SanDisk has admitted that the Extreme III will have a retail price of $1,049. I guess they are specifically targeting high end users.

Posted in Tech Corner, Uncategorized by Paul Jacob on September 26th, 2006

Leaks are so common now. I mean to launch a product without any leaks is nearly impossible. In a way leaks do help certain products, but at times I think these leaks are planned carefully. The pictures of BlackBerry 8000 is been leaked online. It looks pretty Hip.

The new 8000 will come with a full QWERTY keyboard, a trackball for easier navigation, WiFi connectivity, and a microSD memory card slot for memory expansion options. Its only missing one thing. It does not come with a camera. The feature people will most likely appreciate is the idea of expanding the memory.
