Microsoft’s answer to iPod is Zune

Posted in Tech Corner, Uncategorized by Paul Jacob on August 26th, 2006

I think Microsoft is late in the game. Its always better late than never. Microsoft is going to have a mighty hard time conquering Ipods well established market. I am amazed still to this day, how a company that almost went bankrupt is rivalling Microsoft which is the 800 pound gorilla when it comes to technology. Apple did one thing right it focused on one product and delivered it better than anyone at a reasonable price.

Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s iPod will be built by Toshiba. The gadget will be marketed under Microsoft’s “Zune” brand. It will let people share songs, photos, music playlists and other content with others via a wireless connection. One feature will allow a person to send music to up to four other devices. It looks like a white rectangular device with a large screen and several buttons.

Microsoft said in July that it planned to launch a series of music and entertainment products that are expected to compete with Apple’s iPod player and iTunes music service, with the first expected to be available this year. The company has released few details about the undertaking, although it recently warned financial analysts that it will require millions of dollars in investment and will not pay off immediately. Many companies have tried and failed to take over Ipods lead in music player market. Let us see what will happen to Zune.
